I remember spending a long night arguing with my brother and his wife, devout Catholics from Seattle, that you were being ordained a Catholic priest. They had to call their son who convinced them that yes the Vatican did occasionally, and under special circumstances, authorize the ordination of married priests. I was even considering the diaconate, and was taking classes toward that goal in the Episcopal diocese. We've since been reconciled with the Catholic Church and are trying to get involved in our parish, but I miss the Anglican liturgy, the music, the spirituality, and Evensong. Davis. Whil...Excellent start to such a process, Fr. Davis. While the placement of a tabernacle in the church is important it is not of such prime importance that it need be rushed. Many of the changes that were mandated by Sacrosanctum Concilium and the Missal of Pope Paul VI were instituted in such a hasty way that they were often done improperly and without any kind of catechesis. I think taking things slowly and letting people be informed, both by your own teaching and hearing other parishioners views, is far better. Harder. But better.
In the parish I grew up in, after a much needed refurbishing in the 1960s, the tabernacle was placed on a small altar to the side of the sanctuary. years later a small "roof" was installed over it; still later a good heavy cloth was hung behind the altar from roof to floor and kneelers were put before. Finally, a couple of years ago the tabernacle, with teaching both from the pulpit and in the parish bulletin, was moved to the center of the sanctuary and the presidential chair was moved to the side. A long process, but done in such a way that there was little perceptible rancor.Pharmacotherapyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00994649020479807225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-818176086478671260.post-22660374716836634212009-11-12T10:49:18.666-06:002009-11-12T10:49:18.666-06:00very insightful post. Being a'revert Cathol...I agree with you Father. Being a'revert Catholic' after 35 years as an Anglican Religious, I am watching the actions of our Holy Father with great interest. But once the announcement was made about Ordinarites and the Apostolic Constitution, I told my husband I doubted that the many wonderful Anglican friends we know, including clergy, would take up the Pope's offer. There are fundamental differences rooted in Reformational theology which separate us in Communion. And with the brand now Anglican Church of North America just ordaining their first Bishop...which was the work of decades....there is little reason to expect traditional catholic-Anglicans to come to Rome now.

Just this week I met a dear woman with a 'Daughters of the King' cross around her neck. I recognized it immediately. I asked her if , based on the latest actions of the Pope, she was interested in becoming Roman Catholic and she literally shuddered and said: "Oh NO! Not ME! You can keep your Roman doctrines."

That was exactly the reaction I expected.

Time will reveal how many of our separated brethren from the Anglican Communion decide to respond to the Apostolic Constitution.

I will remain open, and hopeful.peskemomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08872352849483919650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-818176086478671260.post-55652358682250446132009-08-13T13:54:34.724-05:002009-08-13T13:54:34.724-05:00Dear Fr. He has flatly said he is not their confessor when they come to talk with him.
